The Client: The client
is the most trusted name in workforce management, offering
an employee-centric application that help millions of employees
perform better, managers' work smarter, and companies achieve
more everyday. The solutions serve growing and enterprise
companies across all industries.
The Challenge: The main
challenge for this project is to propose and implement a
cost-effective functional testing solution for the new release
of the application while generalizing the Silk Scripts (more
than 15,000 scripts).
The Solution: Impetus
put together a team of six members for the maintenance of
the silk scripts. A test environment was set up, which included
- 24 servers with Windows 2000, and Linux as OS
- Backend database as SQL Server 8.760 and Oracle 9i and
Oracle 10g
In addition to this, Impetus proposed:
- A plan to re-structure and modularize the scripts for
better understanding and maintainability. Going forward,
this will make the script architecture more scalable and
reliable.
- Converting the Silk Automation GUI Test to XML. This change
will reduce the execution time to half, and the reliability
of the result would be better as compared to the previous
test plan.
The Impetus team was able to meet the schedule strictly
as per the project milestones specified by the client, i.e.,
results of the system test plan within 6 business days.
