Impetus has been, and continues to work towards remaining
at the forefront of cutting-edge technology. Impetus Labs
or iLabs is our initiative to stay aware, informed, and
ahead of new developments in the technology space. iLabs
is responsible for identifying and working on emerging technologies
in the product development arena. This Technology Exploration,
Research and Development arm works on exploring new technology
domains like mobile, wireless, new media, speech, IPTV and
VOIP etc. This group also works on proof of concepts for
new product ideas and prototyping new products, which can
be later spun off as independent product teams.
Under the iLabs initiative, engineers from different project
teams across the company are assigned to track developments
in the technology arena. This collective effort is called Explore. It
provides inputs to the R&D team on new ideas to take
up and develop. The latest results and findings of the R&D
team are then shared with the engineering teams through
regular newsletters, seminars and open house discussions.
Also, there is an initiative to do regular hands-on technology
interactions, through the sub-team called Hands-on Training.
A dedicated set of technical architects work on developing
new concepts and frameworks to provide an off the shelf
baseline to kick of new projects and taking further the
company's Software Product Development Maturity Model (SPDMM).
Yet another sub-team works on Technical Pre-Sales, working
closely with the sales teams and responding to queries and
RFPs.
iLabs centralizes the expertise attained by our individual
experts in different teams and shorten the development
time by creating reusable components and IP. In our endeavor
to minimize the reinvention of the wheel, Impetus makes
